War of Light and Shadow - Advance of the Cal'ashan

Caldonas led the Cal'ashan boldly through the shadow infested areas. Together they restored what they could, and purged what could not be saved.

The deeper they advanced into the domain of the Shadow, the more brutal the fighting became. And while it may be only a small part of the chronicles of the Unfolding Dream, the matter of fact is that the battles during the advance of the Cal'ashan were all very long, and drawn out, until all of a sudden the front of the forces of Shadow begun to collapse rapidly, leading the Cal'ashan into a progressively bolder advance towards the rotting heart of the Shadow Realms.

The stalwart warriors were wary of the cunning of their foes, and approached with great caution. But still there was no sign of deliberation. It was evident that whatever momentum the forces of Ulhaeron had gained, had come to a halt, and there were no new reinforcements.

And so the Cal'ashan advanced, and the news of the attacks upon the bastions at the edge of Yrion, came far too late. The change of tactics of the Shadow God became evident only when Caldonas had already led the Cal'ashan into the core of Ulheron's domain.

When the Destroyer and his Host arrived in the former realm of Astanor - once a glorious paradise built in accordance to the visions of Ulhaeron, they found a realm of Nightmares. Horrors beyond imagination lurked behind each corner, and the ranks of their foes were now once more thick, and their fighting relentless.

The connection to the outer worlds was severed. All that the Cal'ashan could do now, was to press deeper into the nightmarish domain of the Shadow God, knowing full well by now, that they were walking into a trap.

Eventually only a few hundred of them managed to break through to the colossal dark ziggurat where Ulhaeron still held his throne, pretending to be emperor of all creation.
